Kathrine Ferguson
General Manager
kathrine@marksandworth.co.nzJoined Marks & Worth in 2024.
Kathrine’s wide-ranging role as General Manager spans strategy, governance, people, finance, operations, compliance, and overall organisational performance. At heart, she’s all about creating the conditions that enable all of us to do our best work: supporting our people, while managing systems, processes, and stakeholder relationships – and keeping a steady hand on the day to day operations that keep the firm stable and growing in the right direction.
Having dipped her toe in the law back in 2001 as a legal secretary, Kathrine then spent 20 years studying and working in HR around the world, and three in New Zealand’s public health sector, before returning to the legal world in 2024.
Outside of work, her weekdays are about juggling the kids, the logistics of sports activities, walking her dog Lily and preventing a busy house from descending into chaos. Weekends are for pottering and projects, trying new recipes, or spending time with family and friends, while holidays are spent at tranquil Lake Hawea, taking in the views with a good food magazine in one hand and a glass of wine in the other.
Kathrine believes strongly in grounded, people-centred leadership, a genuinely supportive workplace culture, and practical, well-designed systems. In both work and life, she follows her grandfather’s advice to always be true to yourself and kind to others.
The ingredients for Kathrine’s ultimate dinner party? On the table, sublime French food – inspired by her library of recipe books – complemented by some knockout French vintages. And around the table are her dream guests and fellow foodies Michel Roux Jnr, Anthony Bourdain, and Julia Child.
