Olivia Choie
Solicitor
olivia@marksandworth.co.nzJoined Marks & Worth in October 2025
Admitted to the bar in 2024, Olivia is loving life as a newly-minted solicitor, with every day bringing new challenges, new knowledge to absorb, and above all the satisfaction of making a tangible difference in people’s lives. She credits the supportive, collaborative atmosphere at Marks & Worth with helping her build skills and confidence in her first legal role - and her impressive stationery collection with keeping her workload management on point.
Days for Olivia start with two furry alarm clocks: cat Winston providing the wake-up call and miniature schnauzer Sherlock acting as the snooze button. Once she’s up and running, every day in the office is different, with work from drafting wills and researching Forestry Rights to assisting our conveyancing clients with their sales and purchases. In the evenings she can usually be found at the gym, while weekends are for indulging her love of cooking and baking. She’s also a keen swimmer, and has plans to rekindle her passion for dance and the violin in the near future too.
When it comes to fictional legal inspiration, Fisk is top of Olivia’s list, both for its hilarious heroine Helen and for its down-to-earth depiction of life in a small, boutique law firm, which she feels is more realistic than the high drama of American legal dramas. We can neither confirm nor deny…
Given the choice, Olivia would take home over away, a cozy sunset over a sunrise, and the movie over the book - so that she can share it with good company. Her happy place is on the couch having a cuddle with her dogs (Winston isn’t so keen), and her dream dinner party would be a celebrity-free zone: instead, she’d invite all the ancestors she’s never met over for a proper Cantonese feast.
