An expert bringer of order to chaos, Legal Assistant Shelley has been in the industry since 2019, but she credits her work in community probation a decade earlier for first sparking her keen interest in the law. Fate brought to her Marks & Worth – a right time, right place, right person situation – and it’s both the variety of work and the “incredible” office atmosphere which make her daily commute from Hampden worth the drive.

Days start early for Shelley: there’s that magnificent colour-changing quiff to maintain after all, plus animals to feed and kids to get out the door, but her ever-changing morning playlist gets her through, and she’s always intrigued to see what’s top of her inbox.

Office duties range from drafting all sorts of documents, and managing the quality of our precedents, to detective work in the archives, as well as working towards her Legal Executive qualification: a long-held ambition she’s thrilled to be making a reality. And of course there’s always best office buddy Pedro to keep entertained!

Outside of work, Shelley’s passion is working with her Arabian horses, which is why the first and second things she’d save from a house fire (once family and animals were safe) are her saddle and helmet. Fellow Arabian trainer Patrick Swayze gets a free pass to her dream dinner party, along with Suits attorney Harvey Specter – for reasons both legal and aesthetic – and the one-and-only P!nk. She won’t be the one cooking though: that’s what Gordon Ramsay is for.

If you put her on the spot, Shelley would always choose home over away, country over the city, and a pair of her trademark Doc Martens over heels, sneakers or brogues. Her happy place could be just about anywhere: provided she’s on horseback.
